Is the SIG SHR 970 rifle still available in Europe? They haven't been imported into the USA for several years now.

I have one of the synthetic stocked versions in .270 that is one of the most accurate rifles I have ever pulled a trigger on.

Yes, they are still sold in Europe, and in Canada.
I wish the rifles and barrels were still available here.

It's been years since I've seen a SHR970 on the shelves. I believe production was dropped some years ago, when SIG was taken over by Blaser.

Has the Sauer 202 also ceased production? All I saw on the SIG website was the high dollar tactical rifles.

Check the sauer website at www.sauer.be or www.sigsauer.de and follow the 'hunting' link.

The 202 is a flag ship far from collapsing.

EDIT: SORRY, Andr, I wrote this when you were posting yours.

The Sauer 202 is surely a nice looking rifle.

I saw some SHR970s for sale on web sites of Canadian and Spanish gun stores in 2008.

Prices were up around $1350 Euro, which makes them too expensive.
You might as well buy a Sauer 202.

Here is the catalog from last year.

No authority, myself, but near as I can tell from researching the net, the Sig SHR 970 is no longer in production and has not been for a good while now. Any new SHR 970 rifles, spare parts, and switch-barrels, that might still be commercially advertised is left over stock that was sold off to various dealers and at this point much/most of that has dried up. (I have one in 30/06)

French shooters seem enthusiastic about their SHR 970 rifles.
One says he has heard that production is suspended.

I had a SHR 970 in .280 Rem. I sold it stupidly and regret doing so now!
