Are you talking about the one in Oregon?

atkinson,

Thanks, but those are a little short/muzzle light for my taste.

Did you fit the McGowen barrel to the mannlicher that you barreled?

Ike,

I make boo-boo, a thousand pardons.... What I meant was the BUTLER CREEK stock. I edited that post. AFAIK, the Mark X Mausers never had B&C stocks from the factory. Altho' Interarms and Chas Daly both sold actions and barreled actions. But the .280 had to be a rebarrel. Interarms Mark X Mausers came only in .22-250, .243 Win, .25-06, .270, 7x57, .308 Win .30-06, 7mm Mag, and .300 Win Mag. (And of course, the Alaskans; in .375 H&H and .458 Win.)

I sent my Mk-X to McGowan and had it rebarreled back in 1990

I bought a Mark X Mannlicher in 7x57mm back in the 90s.
It didnt shoot that great and I sold it about a year later.
I believe it was the only 7x57 in that configuration that
I have ever seen.

Shootem,

If my Mark X would have had that classic styled stock on it, I'd have kept it.

And I don't believe that's the Whitworth version. Have never held one of those but the pictures I've seen show a shadowline cheekpiece like the American Field or Express rifle. Slick looking Manlicker that is.

Take a look at the CZ full stock offerings, especially the ones with good wood.
I can do one of them also.
I'm also a full stock guy as my step dad had three full stock rifles built when he came home from WW II. I used to drool over them then, and still do, especially ones with awesome lines, and equally awesome Walnut.
Like these two below, one in 250 Savage, and the Ottmar in 7x57, my kind of magnificent rifles, and my kind of calibers.

Here's the Mark X I picked up locally, I don't know whether it is a factory job or not. The barrel is drilled for sights but the holes have been filled; the stock was not cut when the pad was installed so the LOP is 14.5" Likely replace it with a .5" NECG red pad, I'll shoot the gun as a 30-06 and see how it does, but I'm thinking this gun needs to be rebored to 9.3x62 grin There's some decent figure in the stock.

That sure looks like original checkering, grip cap & spacers. It's a more elegant monte carlo than I recall on Mark X stocks but I'd say original stock all the way until proven otherwise. Very nice wood for that model. Very nice. I have 2 Whitworth, American Field models I believe, with much less grain than that. That's a keeper.
