760 & 780 both need Magnum primers. With standard primers, hangfires are not uncommon in long cases. I have had hangfires in both the 25-06 and 300 H&H with 760 and 780 respectivly
in 50 degree weather. I use magnum primers in all large case hunting loads. They don't hurt a thing. Interesting to note that the quest for the most accurate 308 load in Handloader a while back ended up with Varget and CCI 250s (magnums).
I second this. Using both Win 760 and H380 (both ball powders) even in relatively moderate sized cases (e.g., 30-06 an 6.5x55) I've gotten hangfires in ambient temperatures as high as 55 deg F using CCI 200 primers. At higher ambient temperatures (say around 80 F) hangfires dissappear. I'm not sure how much can be attributed to temperature sensitivity vs. dense packing of ball powders, or some combination of both. Switching to magnum primers solved all ignition problems for me with these powders.
