Wife and I are thinking about new winter jackets. Our winters are mild thanks to the ocean be less than a mile away but they are a bit damp. I will most likely be spending many more hours than I want chaining up my truck and around here we usually chain in the rain before we get to the snow with flashes of instant sunshine. Wife will be working outside all winter on the farm in all kinds of weather from rain to snow. We have looked at the Outback 5008 Saddle Jacket seen HERE

Anybody have one of these and if so what do you think of them?

I have the Saddle Jacket. Nice coat for cool damp weather. Pretty nice to wear around the campfire after a long days hunt.

I've had a Barbour oilskin for 30 years...it needs retreating but is still waterproof. best thing in the world for briar busting for woodcock in the swamp, too.

much lighter and more flexible than my filson tin cruiser, which is like wearing armor

The Filson Tin cloth is pretty stiff, but you'll never wear it out. If you would prefer a more flexible garment, get a Filson in Cover cloth or Shelter cloth.

I use a Filson waterfowl/upland coat in oiled shelter cloth for my duck and bird hunting. I just feel a lot more comfortable in it than I do in the plastic miracle stuff.
