http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/dyna/rapex/create_rapex.cfm?rx_id=136Warbirds and many other models-so pay attention if you are owners or potential buyers of these models. Item 18 on the list -scroll down over the baby cribs and all that other rubish. One reported injury in Canada and another in Italy.

Recalls are a strange thing ... in Australia all Ruger RCM's have been recalled. Sight screws got too close to the bore in some rifles, so all are being checked out. This has not been raised as an issue anywhere else other than here. Cheers... Con

Yeah that's right blargon. I was in the market for a used TRG-42 and doing some searches and came up with this recall. Not many people in Canada or USA pay attention to European recalls but there it is in case some missed it which I did. Were you aware of this major recall? Have agood day.

I've found another recall on the Sako T-3 serial no 419140-461951 Barrels blowing up.

I had a Tikka t-3 that was in the recall serial # range but Sako said it was fine. From what I gather just about all t-3's were accounted for that had a issue. I think it was all about which plant your barrel came from.

I have "heard" that a few people out there don't like Sakos due to the extractor blowing back through the bolt/bolt race ways into the shooters face in the event of case failure. I honestly have NO idea how this can possible happen, since the bolt covers the race ways when a round is chambered. I have several Sakos and I just don't see any danger whatsoever. It would take a heck of a blow up in the catastrophic type explosion to get the extractor to come out of the bolt, squeak down the race ways, then back in your face. I think in the event of that kind of blow up, the extractor flying back would be the least of your worries. I think you would be missing a head and hands, so you probably wouldn't feel the extractor hit your face. Thoughts? Flinch

I'd be more worried of the gas coming through or should I say the cutting torch effect if a case ruptures. Some rifles have built in contingency for this others don't. The military for which most of the TRG design is for wasn't made for reloaders. Correct me if I'm wrong no problem. I'm just studying this TRG 42 more closely. They claim a vault like chamber/bolt, in their adverts, yet you read about these little accidents. I guess on second thought probably-no rifle company designs with reloaders in mind (too small a market).

If you are looking for a used TRG from the ere specified in the recall, beware the twist, 1 in 12, or 1 in 11?, will not stabilize the 300 grain bullet most .338 super mag shooters favour. The new barrels have a 1 in 10 twist for just this reason. Just an FYI.

Thanks for the tip Rman. What about the new ones what's the price tag on one of them units? Where do they sell them in Canada? I've tried afew big gun stores but nothing around used or new. What's your opin on the newer ones? 1 in 10 is the one i'd go for.

IMO, the one in ten trumps all. JoeCool is correct, there can be some fine customs built for the price. In Canada, these rifles can run up to $4800.00. Wolverine Supplies usually has a least one in stock, as well as Shooters Choice, Shooters Edge, as well as P&D Enterprises. I have found a few new on CGN, but they never last long, and have the older twist barrels.
