His name was spelled Alferd, not Alfred. The cafeteria at CU Boulder wad almost named after him. But in the end, no!

About twenty years ago the student body started a campaign to have the cafeteria named after Alferd Packer. The faculty/administration was thrilled that the students were so involved in their campus and Colorado history. So they initially backed the proposal, until finally someone took the time to see who he was. That ended the episode.

Although I think students afectionately call it that.

Right, I thought your spelling was correct, but I spelled it the same a Les did.
I don't want to injure delicate pride with next weekend so close. grin
Thinking on the Judges words- there's a lot more Republicans in Colorado now. grin grin

Who the heck is Alferd (Alfred) Packer? Inquiring minds want to know! smile

Our in July, or August.

BTW: Oh great one, does your store sell trigger locks for Ruger/Kidd 10/22's? Might be a good idea with going through the Park.

Looking for a place in Laramie (or even Cheyenne) that rents porta potties....anyone know of one? I only know the places in Casper and Torrington. I tried the google thing...it was a bit cumbersome.

OK, it looks like a go for the event to be held at my cabin off Highway 230 about 37 miles south of Laramie between Fox Park and WyColo/Mountain Home. We have 2 details to work out which should be resolved by Monday morning. There is a forest service parking lot about 1/2 mile from the place and we can shuttle gear and people with 4 wheelers and trailers. The parking lot is $5 a day. We have a "bunk house" with 2 bunk beds, a camper that has two beds that can accommodate a family, and Larry and others have wall tents. We can accommodate a couple of guests in the main cabin, which is a small A frame. For people with camper trailers we are trying to be sure a campground about 2 miles away is available. (It should be.) There will be a single seater and a 2up 4 wheeler available for guests and there is direct national forest access. There are some good roads into the forest that are open.

We need a firm head count ASAP.

Derby, I don't know if any of the proposed accommodations work for you or not. If not, WyColo lodge (www.wycololodge.com) has some modern cabins for rent (as well as a restaurant and bar). It is 2 miles away and likely much more convenient for you than shuttling from Saratoga to Jack Creek.

More details to follow.

Unless somebody needs something transported, I'll bring my Quad.
It will be available for group use.
