I was reading cra1948's post about the Nylon 66, got me thinking about the Nylon Apache 77's. Seems there are a number of you folks here who have knowledge about the Nylon's, wondered if any of you could tell me more about the Apache 77, ie. what year(s) they were made, etc.? I heard once there were some made specifically for discount stores, such as K-mart, etc., but have no idea if this is true, and really know nothing much about them. Any help? Thanks!

Maybe you would get a quicker answer by asking Remington directly, but they don't list a "Nylon Apache 77" on their web site, www.remington.com.

The only Nylon 77 listed was built between 1970 and 1972, with around 15,327 produced. The Mohawk 10C replaced the Nylon 77 in 1972 and, as far as I could see, was the same gun with a matte finish and a green stock, rather than a brown stock. The Nylon Apache 77 could be a non-cataloged variation of the Nylon 77/Mohawk 10C intended for sale through high volume department store chains, like K-Mart. It appears as though they had polished blued steel, like a Nylon 77, and the green stock, like a Mohawk 10C.

....I do not believe that Remington produced a 77 in the Apache black version. That would include the Chrome plating found on the "Apache" series. The black nylon stock can be used on the model 77 however.

The one in question does have a green stock, a matte reciever, and a blued barrel. It has a black plastic cap on the pistol grip part of the stock that says Remington Apache 77. On the top of the barrel is stamped all the "read the safety warning" stuff, which made me wonder about the age. I can't remember when gun companies started putting that on. Thanks for the info.

Not much help , but checked my 77 and no "read safety stuff"
stamped anywhere on it.

In the mid 80's I found an Apache 77 in Seneca green at my local Kmart. I still have the gun but never really use it. It's been with me since that day and has moved all over the US with me.

I also had a Mohawk 10c that I purchased in the mid 70's. Both guns seem to be pretty much identical. I sold the 10C.

These rifles seem to have a cult following.
