BLR isn't a lever action.

It's a rack & pinion bolt action with an underslung speed shifter.

Rubbish,I say! All proper leveractions are marked "WINCHESTER"! Naturally the 86 and 71 are superior above all others, but the 92,94 and 95 are also superior lever actions. Granted, execution has not always been what it should be,but nevermind that!
Now I know you fanboys are all going to attack my superior taste with facts and logic and science and all that twaddle, but I refuse to listen to your heresy and blaspemy whistle Leverguns is like religion, we have no use for your facts and logic here.Pointy bullet? POINTY BULLETS!? Humbug, pointy bullets is for inferior hunters who can't get close enough to use the superior terminal ballistics of fat, flat and wide smirk Now being,ah,financially challenged, unlike some of the others, I can't buy the best of the best ie Model 71/348, or the 86 in 50/110,so have had to go with the more modern(but still oh so superior) M94BB.Before you go bellowing about the fat cheeks of the Big Bore let me issue a pre-emptive LALALALALALALLALALA I can't hear you! The wonderful .307,356,.375 and .444 are all the modern levergunner needs, though he desire's in his heart the .348 and Big 50. Go on, deny, but deep inside you know the truth! Behold,I present LEVERACTIONS-

Even my wife, on her second hunt, was able to bag a nice buck do soley to the superior hunting prowess of the .356 BB(it's been proven by science AND archeaology)and the outstanding guide service provided by one most knowlegable and learned in the ways of deer hunting and woodsmanship....obviously myself wink

Marlins are sturdy, accurate, efficient and dependable.

A Savage 99F in .308 win. with brass counter and lever safety is powerful and beautiful.

If you are talking a Winchester 1886 lightweight in 33 WCF, an 1892 in 38-40, an 1894 in 30 WCF, an 1895 in .35 Win., or a model 64 in 25-35,

then you are talking the perfect blend of form and function.

My problem is that I like them all. My favorite gun is a Marlin 30.30 made in 1953 that belonged to my Grandpa. He also used a Savage 99 in .303 Savage that my Grandma gave to one of my Grandpa's hunting buddies after he died. I sure would like to have that gun too! Eventually I will have a Savage and a Winchester to add to my meager collection of guns.

Marlins feel best me, and not by a little. I've owned 4-5 of them. Winchesters are next. Can't like Savage 99's.

Thanks - 3 consecutive 5 shot 100 yard groups, all under 1/2", except for the one called flyer. I just thought a heavy barrel .22-250 ought to be capable thereof. grin

I also shoot 3 shot groups with big game rifles.

I also worked on that rifle off & on for over 20 years to get it shooting that well, and I was kinda proud of the accomplishment grin
