I found this on the www.coldsteel.com website. Jared Allen of the Minnesota Vikings spears an elk out of a treestand. According to the narrative this is somewhere in central Illinois. I wondered what you real elk hunters thought of this. This elk acts tame. It doesn't seem sporting to me.

High fence elk are not for me, regardless of the method used.

What a complete PHUCKING DUMBAZZ.

Will never buy another Coldsteel product after seeing that and have lost any respect I might have had for Jared Allen... one more reason to be happy the Vikings didn't make the Super Bowl.

And that's the restrained version of my thoughts...

I don't care for high fence anything. Wonder how long it will take for someone to claim we threaten to divide all hunters and allow the antis to defeat us all? Hogwash. High fences BLOW!

I didn't think it was possible for me to despise a Viking player more than I already do. Per usual, I was wrong. wink

I have a slightly different take on high fence, depending on size of acreage it can be impossible to find a particular animal....

And beyond that, on some its only numbers management and when I"m hunting meat, I don't really care actually, if you need X animals gone, I"ll be happy to come shoot them and eat them.

Of course I certainly won't call it hunting either. Harvesting, though I simply call it shooting.

Then, on top of that on what I call meat hunts, we often try new and different things, crossbow, bullet testing etc.... I don't see how this differs much from that. Legal to do basically. As long as its a quick humane death, whats the deal?

But like I"ve said, there is a difference between when I am actually hunting, and when we go to a friends place that is NOT high fenced and shoot meat. THere is no challenge to that, its a given, and could actually kill a bunch of deer simply sitting on the porch or in the truck... but for management they need the numbers thinned and dont' want to lease the property.
