i would suffer those bruises for what he gets payed They aren't bruises, that's blood from torn tissues. Ever cut into a golf ball, the old kind full of rubber bands? When they are snapping and popping on the blade? That was what my hammie felt when I tore it bad enough to turn green and purple. It's nauseating, and you go into mini-shock... amazes me a guy could shut all that out and play at that level.

You could call penalties on just about every play of every game,if you looked hard enough. That's a very good point. I recently read a book by a college official who said that they are taught to consider whether what could be called would have a bearing on the play. In particular, when we fans are going ape over a hold that we saw that wasn't called, it probably wasn't missed, but was considered to be a nonentity. He pointed out that many times when a defensive player would complain to him that he was being held, his response was, "It didn't look to me like you were working very hard to get free."
Not a real member - just an ordinary guy who appreciates being able to hang around and say something once in awhile.

Basketball (my sport) is certainly like that. The refs exercise a HUGE degree of discretion.

And the photos were taken when those bruises were in full bloom. I don't think that he could be ready to play this Sunday.
