I just picked up a 300 WSM.
Thinking to start with the TTSX bullets.
A all round moose and elk load.

What is your #1 go to powder for 300 WSM???

thanks

IMR 4350 (Gives me 3/4" groups with both 165's and 150gr. bullets) and R17(not sure about this one yet, but I like the velocity). I personally haven't tried IMR 4831, but I hear a lot of talk for this powder in the 300wsm, especially in 165+grain bullets.

imr 4831 my A bolt will shoot 180 ptn , 180 accubond , and 180 ballistic tips into same group at 100 yards with 67.5 imr 4831 , wlrm primer . get slightly more velocity with RL19 and the ptns but for all around its just so easy to use same load and drop in whatever buller i want to use only variable is just slightly different coal . also shoots well with 150 ptns and 150 accubonds but not as well as with 180s .

..............There are several powders that I have used which work well in my 300 WSM in bullet weights from the 165 grainers up to and including the 200 grainers. Using these following powders in my rifle, there are certain charge weights which are more accurate than others, but for overall accuracy these are my go to powders.

RL17........ gives the best velocities
N165........ offers some of the best accuracy
H-4350...... same as N165

With 150-155 grain bullets;

IMR 4007SSC
Varget

You`re just going to have to experiment to find out which powder or powders works best in your rifle.

ADI2213 (H4831) 71gr with the 180BT and WLR primers (3060fps) It works real well but is a hot load so if you try that work up to it

4350, H or IMR, although I settled on H4350, as it takes about 1 gr. less to get the same speed and accuracy, and oh ya it's touted as "Extreme."

IMR 4831 works best in my 300 wsm, good velocity and accuracy with 168 and 200 gr bullets, however it is very temperature sensetive.

Thus far my gun puts the first two 165's into the same hole with 65.5 gr.'s of H4350. THe 150's like 68 gr.'s of W760.

IMR 4350 gave good velocity and accuracy for me. RL17 gave me some impressive velocites but I couldn't find a good accurate load.

If I were to start out again in a new rifle, I would at least try rl 17 first, then go on to one of the 4350's

This is what I would do also.
H4350 is still tough to find but the local shop has 5lb kegs of '17 on the shelf so I switched over and stocked up bigtime.

I've found R17 and H4350 to be very close but another 50fps(or more) is very possible with '17. Accuracy is pretty much the same in my rifles.

R17 is a very good powder.
