This look to be a legit photo, or can markings be confused with any kind of constrictor? Claimed to be new world record.

If that's a 15' snake, the guy off camera who is holding the staff must be a good 10' tall.

It is very obvious that the snake is being held by someone closer to the camera and making it appear much larger than it really is. The guy in the background is just taking a photo not holding the pole the snake is held with. Come on now "15 foot Rattlesnake"

Snake is very close to the camera, probably 4-5' tops. A 15 footer would be a world record and you would need a winch to hold it up. An 8 footer is considered a GIANT.

Yep, it's BS. Keeping it all to scale, the snake-catching pole would likely be 4-5" in diameter if that snake was truly 15 feet.
Now with even more aplomb

http://www.news4jax.com/news/21162885/detail.html#7-Foot-3 Rattlesnake Caught, Killed Giant Rattlesnake Slithers Its Way Into St. Augustine Townhouse Community POSTED: Wednesday, September 30, 2009 UPDATED: 6:35 pm EDT September 30, 2009 Huge rattlesnake with SJC deputy ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The trappers who caught and killed a giant rattlesnake in St. Johns County said the snake was 7 feet 3 inches long. Experts said it's one of the biggest rattlesnakes they've ever seen. The rattlesnake slithered its way into Tuscany Village, a St. Augustine townhouse community, over the weekend. Huge rattlesnake Photo by Jason Huntley The trapper who caught and killed this rattlesnake measured it at 7 feet 3 inches. Someone spotted the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake, now being called Rattzilla, near homes off State Road 16 and Interstate 95 and called police. Police then called Brandon Booth, a professional trapper. Booth said that when he pulled up, he realized how big and dangerous the rattler was. "When I got there, I looked at it and said, 'That's bigger than 6 feet,'" Booth said. "I didn't have time to really think. I just jumped out of the truck with my gig and got him. He wasn't going to get away." Booth said he had no choice but to kill the venomous snake because there were lots of people around and a venomous snake that big could easily kill someone. He said he usually won't kill a snake unless it's venomous. "I wasn't going to let him get away, so I just went ahead and did what I had to do," Booth said. "There's a lot of kids in that neighborhood and even adults, so I figured it was the best thing to do. I'm not a snake wrestler." Right now, the snake is sitting in Booth's freezer until he decides what to do with it. The snake was frozen after it was killed and shrunk considerably in size because the muscles were no longer relaxed. Huge rattlesnake Heather Hart, who lives in the community, was stunned when she saw pictures of the snake. She has two small dogs and said they could have easily been eaten by the rattler. "Are you serious?" she said. "That is crazy." Booth said it is hard to tell in Florida when the next big rattler might show up. "They're out there, but it's unusual to actually get the call to get one this big," Booth said. Experts said Eastern Diamondbacks are only between 3 and 6 feet long on average.

I have received this in different poses for many months. A big snake, but not even close to 15'.

I like the part where they have to make apologies for killing it. 50 years ago, they woulda given the guy a medal. Personally, I'd want that fella OUT of my yard.

7' rattlesnakes don't get that big by being dangerous or bothersome... the snake in question may have done for a few dogs along the way, but obviously stayed quiet and out of the way for most all of his days... at least everyone noticed when he checked out....

Many years ago, I was deer hunting near Lake Washington, west of Melbourne. At the truck, two other hunters came out carrying a huge rattler. The taller of the two men (6 ft at least) could not hold the snake completely off the ground with his arms fully raised. It looked a LOT like that 7-3" one in the photo.
We found a five-pound swamp rabbit in its stomach.
Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

I killed one 4 feet in Texas. It sure looked bigger when I saw it in front of me Shot in the head, it left puddles of venom in the truck bed. Read of a couple yahoos who caught a 6 footer in cool/cold temperatures, and took it alive into their truck, thinking it would be a neat catch they could sell for big bucks. After it warmed up inside the heated truck cab, it was many times less sluggish, and much stronger. The two men could not control it, and both were bitten. One nearly lost an arm, IIRC.

Does anyone here remember back in the 70s or 80s in a SPORTS AFIELD Mag article, a Black and White photo that shows MANY men holding a LARGE Eastern Diamondback at shoulder/head level straight across head to tail, and a sign on a poster that says 11 feet 4 inches or something like that?
If an unaltered photo, that snake surely was a record. It was reportedly found in an old house IIRC, but nothing could be found to substantiate the authenticity. This was long before 'photo shop' etc.
Anyone see that pic? Looked very legit to me.

10 feet is about as big as I know of them getting. Biggest one I have personally seen was as a youngster. It was touching both opposite corners (caddycorner) of a long bed pick-up. This was way back before the little one's (midget wanna be pick-ups) arrived from overseas, I do seem to recall it was a stepside.
