The problem I had scoping my 204 ( A Tikka) was to find a scope that was good enough to wring all the accuracy out of the little sucker. It is the most accurate rifle I ever owned. I ended up with a 3X12 Nikon Monarch on it. Some of the scope choice depends on the use of the rifle, whether you plan to sit and shoot all day at long ranges or if you are doing more stalking. Unless your rifle is a heavy varmit type, I'd go with a 4X16 of good quality.

Nikon 6-18 with Bullet Drop Compensator reticule and side focus. The side focus is super handy for vermin as you barely have to move. Like it so well I doubt I'll ever buy another scope without side focus.

Older Leupold Vari X III 6.5-20X in Leupold dual dovetail B&R. The rifle is essentially a 700 VSSF assembled from aftermarket parts, only the action is factory, the barrel is PacNor, stock is a direct order from HS Precision, trigger is a Jewell HVR.

It works. Stuff dies.

My Remington VLS in .204 Ruger wears a Zeiss 6.5-20x50mm with a #20 reticle. Works great for me.

I use any of the following:

Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x
Nikon Monarch 6.5-20x AO
Nikon Monarch 6-24 SF
Leupold VX-II 6-18
Clearidge Ultra XP 6-20 (a Monarch sized tube with Bushnell Elite 4200 glass, best buy on the market right now). This is currently on Savage PTA with Shilen Select Match .204 Ruger barrel.

They'll all do just fine.

I've got one of these on my .204 as well. I don't like the BDC reticle, I like the glass a lot, but hate that reticle.

rat..,

Keep shooting the BDC, differant for me too, but I learned to love it. The side focus is what sells it for me.

I've got some bushnell elites with mil-dot and Leupolds with the Varmint Reticle.
T3 lite 243 for yotes. Leupold VX-3 4-16x40 with varmint reticle
T3 lite, (laminate / stainless) 204 for yotes and p-dogs. Elite 6500 2.5-16x 42mm with mil-dot

Savge BTVSS 204 for p-dogs. Elite 4200 6-24 x 50mm with mil-dot
Savage VLP 204 for p-dogs. Leupold VX-L 6.5-20x56mm Long Range Target with Varmint reticle

The Leupold with the varmint reticle is my favorite.
