i have a 673 guide gun in 350 mag and a mod 7 in 350 mag. both just plain jane stock rifles from the boring old factory but i absolutley love them both. as far as any accuracy problems, i cant see that i ave any although i only shoot iron sights. im not a real big scope fan since all shots are usually under 50 yds up here in maine but i do think im gonna put a trijicon 1.25-4 on the m7 for this season.

If most your shot are under 50 yards, you don't need a gun. Let him get a little closer and use a hatchet.

hahaha or a decent rock eh?! its thinker then hell up here and thats where the deer head for when your trackin 'em. most often the shots are 30-50 yds and they are gettin the hell out of dodge! then its time to ratchet that little bolt and let some lead fly. now dont take that as a spray and pray method now. its just that its so damn thick thyat its hard to thread on through and hit them so its not uncommon to poke a coiuple at them it you have the time

I just couldn't help myself. I had to revive this old thread due to my absolute LOVE for Model Sevens.

I have several of them ranging from the gutsy 350RM and 300WSM to the diminutive 223 Remington and can't imagine rifles I'd rather have for any amount of money.

My latest and favorite ones are the one year production Model Seven XCR Camo and these are likely the best of the best.

It seems that Remington failed to market these rifles properly because they didn't sell well but they're easily the consumate short and lightweight production hunting rifles.

I have a few of them restocked with the excellent McMillan AWR stocks and this makes them lightweight tackdrivers of the highest order.

They offer very few now. The one that's discontinued and what I was referring to is the Model 7XCR Camo and IMO that's the best one they ever built. Like many great ideas it had poor public acceptance due to poor marketing and a pretty high pricetag.

It went the way of the Short Action Ultra Mags which were also a great idea that didn't get marketed well.

They had a M7 coming from the custom shop with a full walnut stock (mannlicher) that was running @ $1400.00. by the time I could talk myself into getting one, the price was over $2000. I still don't have one.

I have 2 both 308's.. a 1987 m7FS & a late '90's m7MS. The FS was my summer carry rifle for years both are basically modern 30-30's with a few hunderd more fps. With the FS when you are ready to shoot 1st thing to do is find a rest, but that should be the 1st thing every time.
