In a few years, my next rifle project will be a CRF....
I really want a pre 64 winnie in .270- you know, for the really dangerous stuff.

cmg- Thanks for the kind words. But no older than I am and no more experience than I have I'm not sure I have much of a resume for passing on 'wisdom'. But, that experience with my father did open my eyes up regarding some aspects of life.

I think that most hunting in the lower 48 could be accomplished with a 12GA shotgun, 17HMR and a 30-06 derivative from 27 to 33 caliber. Go ahead and make mine a 280

that book is a must read for HUNTERS. Jones used the rifle as a tool to do what we all should focus on, the hunting. I am guilty of puting more mental effort into rifles than hunting. Need to sell the rifles and go hunting. I have never not make a rifle shot on game because it was the rifle or calibre's fault.
