The DNZ website says that the low base/rings will work with "most" 40mm scopes, and the mediums will work with most 50mm scopes.
Seems awful low to me. I don't want to order 2 or 3 sets and have to send them back.

Anybody have any first hand experience, especially with Zeiss scopes and Rem 700's??

Thanks!

I mounted a 3x9x40 Kahles on my 700, with the low base DedNutz,
and it fits real nice. What size scope are you mounting?

I mounted a Nikon Monarch X 2.5x10x44 in lows on an X-Bolt and have plenty of clearance. The scope is a little long and the bell gets out past the chamber area of the barrel, so there was no interference issues at all.

I want to put a Zeiss 40mm on a SA Remington 700, a Zeiss 50mm on another Remington SA 700, and a Zeiss 40mm on a LA Remington 700.
I'd like to have room for flip-up scope covers.
Butler Creek maybe??

I've got a 700 long action with Dednutz xtra-lows and a FXIII 6x42 with BC blizzard proof caps.....perfect fit even with the xtra-low. One thing to note, I tried putting a VXII 2-7x32 on this same mount/rifle and it would not work due to the power change ring hitting the base section.

I'll try to get some pics posted tomorrow for reference.

Thank you JCM.

The DNZ system sure is different than what I'm used to with Leupold and Warne stuff.

Here are a few pics. Hopefully they will help.

Blued/matte is an xlow with a 6x42 Leupold. There is VERY little room left...only a few paper's width...perfect. With a 3-9 this might work, but a 2-7 I tried to mount in it, the power ring was contacting the "base" of the mount.

Stainless/silver is a low with a 3-9x40 Leupold. A lot of extra room left.

JMC..

I am considering those mount for my m700 VSF uin 22-250..

How do you like them?

What is the fit of the mount to the rifle in terms of alingment?

And fit of the scope tube inside the rings?

Any lapping needed?

Hey jim62,

I'm a big fan of the Dednutz mounts. I go with them or Talley LW's on everything. The lows between the Talley and Dednutz are about the same height. The Dednutz are about an ounce heavier. They are very well built, thick, strong, and lightweight. They may appear a little to thick for some folks...you can see how thick the rings are on from the pics.

The alignment to the rifle has been great on every set of Dednutz mounts I've used. I've used them on several M7's, 2 long action M700's, 2 long action M70's, and one short action 700. The short action 700 has 20 MOA built in...I think it's the best deal going on a LR mount.

The scope tube fit is great. I play musical scopes to often. Tally's often leave a little mark on the tube. I've not seen any marks at all from the Dednutz.

I've not lapped any of the Dednutz. I don't lap Tally's either. One thing I've noticed when mounting a scope with Tally mounts is that when tightening the scope it will often turn a little so it's no longer level. The Dednutz don't seem to do this.

Hope this helps,

JCM

Well, I lucked out yesterday and found 2 sets of the DNZ rings at a gun shop.

I put a Zeiss 3.5-10x44 in LOW rings on a 700 long action with a sporter barrel, and had plenty of room left for scope covers.

And, I put a Zeiss 4.5-14x44 in MEDIUM rings on a 700 short action magnum taper barrel. I measured between the barrel and objective, and I still have room for the 50mm Conquest I've got on the way for that gun....and room for scope covers.

Not a good pic, but this scope has a 30 mm main tube and a 44MM objective and fit fine in DNZ lows.

JCM,

Thanks for the info.

It is what I have heard from others..

The "bulk" of the Dednutz mounts dose not bother me at all for use on a heavy barreled bolt rifle. They seem just as strong in a one peice mount as most tactial mounts that are much, much uglier..

The thing that keeps me from buying any Talley Lightweights- and I know this is sacrilege- is they LOOK cheap to me. Just like some set of Tasco -K-mart rings from the 1970s.

If they would round the corners a bit like they do on their steel mounts they would look OK, but they look like crap to me as they are..

Just a follow up on the DNZ rings installation...
I put a Zeiss 6.5-20 on a 700 SA last week. When I got it zeroed, I had only 10 clicks of windage adjustment available in one direction.
Anybody ever have an alignment problem with the DNZ's?
