I have a 39M and a 39TDS. Just curious how many others here have a TDS.

Sad to say I do not own one, but dang that is a nice looking piece of cutlery you have under your handle there.

Thanks, I made that one for my sister. Stabilized myrtlewood burl handle. you can see it better at: roseandthistle.50megs.com

It seems that I am the only one here with a TDS.? Well, to be fair I don't really have one either, since the wife shot it for the first time I have almost never had my hands on it. LOL So I got a Mounty since I love the straight grips.

Well..."we" have a Marlin 39TDS at home. I bought it and gave it to my g/f about 6 years ago.

I got it for her because I already had a 39D that I bought years ago and I like it so much I thought she'd like a nice "handy" little .22.

I shoot it about as much as she does. It has a Leupold RF Compact 2-7x on it while my 39D has a Marlin-Hepburn combination peep mounted on the receiver.

I put a couple of pics of Miss Lil, shooting her 39TDS up here for people to see

We've got this neat little pop-up squirrel target that falls down when hit, then springs back up! Great informal practice for the critters!

I've got one, I gave it to my brother in law for my two nieces and nephew to grow up with. About 2 years ago, they told me that they had left it in the truck in the nylon takedown case. It had rusted horribly, along the bbl/ feed tube, on the receiver, elsewhere. Made me sick to my stomach. It was spotless when I gave it to them. They still have it, I'll get it back for my son in about 5 years. Great gun, if I found another, I'd buy it.

I am fortunate to have a Marlin 39TDS. It is the handiest little rifle I have. And, I have several other lever-action 22 rifles by Marlin.

I have one that I bought brand new back in '92. It is the handiest little rifle around. I've shot rabbits in California, and Airzona, and plenty of squirrel in Michigan. Now, I'm Utah, but as of yet, I haven't had any hunting opportunities with it. I've never seen one on a dealer's used rack. I don't know why they stopped making them, but it seems to me, those that have them, don't want to part with them.

I picked one up last fall.

http://www.grovestreet.com/jsp/onepic.jsp?id=1107333

I'm quite impressed by it. It seems to shoot the Fedral Bulk Pack ammo very well and CCI CB longs better than any of my other rimfires. At 25 yards with open sights I can get 4 out of 5 inside a dime.

Mine does NOT like CCI mini mags or Aguilla SubSonics.

Even though it's nearly 2 pounds heavier than my Papoose I enjoy shooting it more and it feels more adult sized yet is very compact and handy. It has become my Backpack rimfire rifle.

....Maybe the Marlin 16" barreled model 39 I have isn't a TDS. Mine has a straight stock, with smaller stock dimensions than i'd guess thier regular model 39's have. I don't know these Marlin models well, maybe one of you folks could ID what i've got. I don't have the means to post a photo.

FYI: My 39TDS serial # starts with TDS on my TDS. It also is lacking swivels or swivel studs. I think that is a common TDS characteristic vs. the 39A and the 39 Mounties, though I think some of the early models lacked them too.

Serenly posting on another old thread, Oh Well.

I have a 39TDS (Take Down Safety) that I bought new. It's sitting beside the computer here, in the bag it came with, right now. Its scary accurate.

I have had many opportunities to sell it, but, I will never let it go.

Howdy Stillwater,

I thought your handle sounded familiar when I posted on the other thread. Never is a looong time. Offer stands.

We've bonded, it loves me... How can you sell something that loves you...?

What part of Wyoming do you live in? I have relatives all over Wyoming, especially around the Meeteetse area. Anybody with the surname of Brown or Beckwith will be a relative.

Casper, my father in law hails from Meeteetse, He's a Christopherson.

I went to High school with a few Brown's. One that lives in Thermopolis now, I think.

Beckwith sounds familiar, then again Wyoming is a small town.

I will send the TDS back to Marlin when I get it back.

Those were rumored to be in production for a Davidson's release, like all the other SS/laminated Marlins. With Remlins current woes, I don't think it'll happen.
