Not in Alaska but I'd take a look at Kelly Haugen he has Artic Red river outfitters.

If I lived in Lesser 48, I would be desperate to hunt Alaska for Dall Sheep. Why hunt in overcrowded guide areas and be guided by an assistant guide/registered guide that lives in L48 [maybe your neighbor] and can't legally hunt sheep himself without a guide.....What The Hell?

Whitehorse,YT resident, Kelly Hougen has sold Arctic Red River outfitters [NWT]....IIRC to a guide that worked for him.....That's where I would be looking for a hunt even though it may be a bit more expensive.

VernAK,

Why settle for your neighbor from the lower 48 when you can be guided by an non-resident alien?

We would go to the same overcrowded areas, though.

Huntr, please do note the heavy sarcasm.

If I were to do a guided sheep hunt in Alaska, first guy I would talk too would be Matt Snyder of Alaska Hunting Adventures.

I'd talk to Henry Tiffany @ Alaska Perimeter Expeditions

or Mike McCann

or Dave Morris

or John Petersen

disclaimer: I know all of these guys personally except McCann two I've worked for and while my perspective was NOT that of a client, they ran a good operation from my perspective and believe I'd have felt the same way whether I was paying the freight or gettin paid 3 of them work in areas that overlap each other and it's in an area where I've hunted personally a few times though never as a guide in that particular general area. All of them work the Brooks range, there's other ranges and other outfitters that are great, those are just the ones I know of their operation to be able to endorse. I can only talk about what I actually know (and even then Art will tell ya I sometimes get in over my head) wink

Kirk Ellis of Ellis Big Game Guides is simply superb. I've hunted with him and know several others who have too. He has a fantastic sheep area and lots of sheep. You will not find better people to hunt with. Tell em Sam from Va. said hello.

+1 on the ellis's. I did a drop off hunt with them but when we got back to there place and waiting for my wife to come in from anchorage, I got to talk to a few of there clients (guided). nothing but smiles and not a bad word to be said.

Also the ellis's are hellofagood pilots.

I would talk to Ralph Miller of Deltana Outfitters. Great guys, fabulous area in the Brooks, great equipment and they work very, very hard to get on a good ram. Ask outfitters you are talking with whether they will move you if necessary, etc. to get you a sheep. Most won't. Take a look at the sheep they have taken over the last three years. I have hunted all over the world and hunted with Ralph twice and would highly recommend them.
