This would be like telling you I like to smear a little mud on the objective lens of my S&B so that big old 56mm piece of polished glass doesn't glint in the morning sun and give away my position to the deer.
I don't mix drinks with serious whisk(e)y, and the idea of chilling it is anathema to me. I actually want to taste the whisk(e)y when I drink it.

I also drink good whiskey straight up, but many do mix it. Still It is sooo gooood when kept in the freezer. Cold is like gold

Never never never do I chill sipping whisk(e)y.
It kills the aromatics which reduces the olfactory input to the taste experience and it also anesthetizes the taste buds. As a result the flavor notes are not only dampened but they are thrown out of balance as well, some of them being affected more than others by the cold.
