I'm wondering if it qualifies as a good rear sight or if it is an only in emergencies piece of kit. I'm looking for something more useful than express sights as a back up on a .375.

I ordered one once and was very impressed and saddened. Saddened because it wouldn't work with my Vari-X 3 1.75-6. It interfered with the magnification adjustment ring so I had to return it. I will get one again eventually for my .358 project. Call him to make sure your scope will work. I ended up going with Dave Talley's removable peep, which is nice as well, just alot easier to lose.

Ryan You dont say on which rifle action you intend to use the aperture sight. If you have a 98 action then you would be very well served with the Rigby style that is mounted on the bolt's cocking piece. These add 3 1/2 inch sighting radius to that offered by a bridge mounted unit and 13in over the express mounted sight. I have a Bridge mounted unit on my 404 and it is the only sighting equipment. On my 7x57 though I have the bolt mounted unit that winds down for when the scope is installed in QD rings. Have used the aperture out to 185yds on moving animals and like it as my primary with the scope in the day pack to be installed if a long shot offers that I cant close to under 200yds. Love the aperture sight.

There was not enough clearance initially for clearance under the scope but that was attended to and ity is a very practical sighting set-up. much prefer the handelability of the rifle without the scope though and carry it plain most of the time.

VonGruff, where did you get that bolt peep from? Local NZ make, or...?
I have a Husqvarna FN98 9.3x62 that isn't drilled and tapped...would be pretty good option.

I have one a custom .338 Federal. It could be a little better finished, but it's a pretty nice sight overall.

They are hand made in the US in small batches and are beautifully made and very reasonably prices. Rob is a great guy to deal with and justifiably proud of these sights.
