I checked out their website today, the prices are reasonable. I too have been thinking about the backpackable tipi/stove combo but I won't use one enough to justify the price of a Kifaru set up. I just might try one of these out.

Am I missing something or are many of those tipts made out of the same cheap poly tarp material that you would buy from any old hardware store to cover a woodpile, lawnmower, etc.?

Been searching for a good used kifaru tipi for years, no luck. Even thought about buying material and constructiong my own. I've been using a Golite Shangri La 3 great for 2 hunters and gear. I wanted something a little bigger, taller, stronger but compact enought to pack. I found an interesting tent called Mega Horn II, a tipi style tent on ebay and should be here in a few days. I can't wait to test it out. There's another tent people use in europe called the Lavvu, I like that one too.

Don't know about his tents (Wyoming tipt tents) but his business practices are crap. I have seen him spam his stuff on Kifaru's message board in a "in your face" way that just peeved me off.

I have a 5 man I bought from Wyoming Lost and Found. Bought it in the middle of the winter and set it up a couple times as the house to get a "feel" for quickest/easiest way to get it tight and formed up nice. Also did it in the dark with the headlamp to get some "real world" feel for it before taking it out. Took it out two weekends ago in as nasty a wind storm as I have seen in many years here in the Montana mountains. I was really impressed that it didn't have any problems staying up, but I was a little nervous. I had to to get up twice to pound stakes back down. About 11 at night had a large branch about the size of a kids wiffle ball bat launch out of the tree and blow through the side of the material and rip a big hole.I was camped close to the road with two of my kids so had a role of duct tape and did the quick fix. I contacted Brian via email when I got back about possible fixes. He told me how he recommended fixing it and said to send it back. Of course I was wondering how much it would cost for the fix, no charge but he did ask if I would please cover shipping. I know Brian has got some hackles up here. But I have asked him many questions about design, build ideas, etc... and I am having him build me another tipi out of canvas. I would classify myself as a bit of a pain in the ass as I keep tweeking things I want done. He has been really cool, always helpful and willing to build it the way I want. He will give his advice and insight, but in the end leaves it up to me. I trust him with my dollars, he is a hard ass American boy that isn't real good at fluffing it up but that doesn't bother me much. Happy hunting, Casey PS Yep, he has some tipis built out of good old Wally World blue tarps. Thinknig they might be handy to throw on a horse when horse camping it, great place to store saddle, grain, gear, etc... That stuff doesn't need the Hilton.

I bought a Shangri-La 3 from Ed T and I love that tent. Travis

I purchased a 5 man from WYO and received it last week. It is very light weight and well made. set it up in the yard and am overall impressed with the construction. He was great with shipping and answered all my questions over the phone. I have a few camping trips coming up in the next month and I will give it a real world test as long as the bugs arn't out in force to much. I got the 1.1 oz ripstop model with single zipper and stove port by the way. I need to get a weight with pole and stakes.

Jester, haven't set up the Mega Horn yet but debating to use it or the Shangri-La 3 for the back pack hunt in CO this year. It looks like a good 3 seasons hard weather tent, might use it for a base camp set up instead, it's #10. Sportsmans Guide has the BIG Mega Horn advertised the the catalog I think its 8-10 man tent, looks good, don't know the weight. I sold my 14x16 wall tent some years ago and been kicking myself for it.
