Naw. I respect my fellows and their equipment. See, John, nothing to worry.

In all seriousness, two scopes have been offered to me.

That is a good deal, all the way around. As long as you're aware of the safety, it's not a problem, and I kind of think it might have been a better design, back in the day before everything else was built the other way. Only one I've ever encountered was in Mozambique -- my PH has a very good PH friend who was off work in camp a few days. He went with us into the grass hunting Cape buffalo; driving the Argo for us. We had a touchy little moment with a herd, which eventually ran off. We were calming down and cooling off and talked about our three rifles. The friend was carrying a BRNO ZKK .375, like your 7x57, and I asked him about the safety. He emptied the magazine and demonstrated how it worked -- and my PH about turned white. At one point of the little episode, he was holding that rifle, until he got his .375 traded back to him. (It was a bit of a herd wreck potential, and we had to do some moving about...) He didn't know their safeties ran backwards -- so if the busted-up-horned bull had charged -- it would have been just me shooting my .404 at him, at least for the first two or three seconds. Which I like to think would have been just fine, but I would have preferred all the rifles going bang for my sake.

Anyway...I think about that every so often, like when this rifle came up... smile.

Hubba freakin' hubba. I like!

That peep is cool as heck. I've got a Small Ring Mexican '98 being put together right now and am using Talley bases just so I can have a peep sight, but it isn't fold-down frown only detachable... see me turning green.

Awesome find!

Dennis,

neat story. Ilustrates the point about intimicy with rifles and also something about Murphy, Finnangle and the KISS - principle.

Glad it worked out - something tells me that you would have done just fine in a pinch.

Sweet. I'm digging that nifty peep sight. I prefer that to the rear sight forward of the receiver.

Gringo,

me, too. I even wonder, why they made the effort in the first place to insist on the regular rear sight.

Hi Carl!

Nice rifle! I have two of it's siblings - a 600 in .30-06 and a 602 in .375 H&H. Both of them have the pop up peep sight and are made in 66/67.
I resently tried to sell them to buy a couple of Mausers instead but due to some struggle with the licensing autorities they nebver left my possesion so now in torn between keeping them and selling them..... They have the most smooth working bolts I've ever encountered on any claw equiped action wich is a real plus..... Only thing wrong with them is the weight on the 602 and the 600 beeing in the wrong caliber you did find the right one!

Cheers
