What part of the state you headed to Steve? The snow missed a good portion of it.

I'll be in the Crazies, and from what I saw on weather maps, they are getting snow. My hope is that by the time I get there, the snow will have melted and the bears will be in a feeding frenzy.

Well, I can hope can't I?

I got a week until I start my vacation and get out with Deflave and Billgoatgruff. Looking forward to it....

But if this long drawn out breakup doesn't quit, I may be off work for a couple weeks. We have enough logs in the yard to last us until middle of May... I may have to get in some fly-fishing too.

Dober,
I was kinda hoping that you would give me some emotional support, not some "you are gonna need dogsleds" fright!

Actually, I'm looking forward to all of it. Having killed 4 bears, I enjoy the hunting much more than the shooting, and have no doubt I'll thoroughly enjoy the hunt even if I do not even see a single bear.

The buddy I'll hunt with did not get a bear on our last hunt, and his getting one this year is my first priority. If he does, it will be a successful hunt, and I'll be delighted. And I'll fully enjoy the country and the friendship.

Just plain bear hunting is it's own reward.

And Dober's ideas and experience will make it all worthwhile.

Steve

I'm off tomorrow for a week of Grizzly hunting. My partner an I both got drawn in the same region so this will be good.

We going to be about 8 hours north and west of here, no cell service, not many people... I do love these trips.

Anyone have any luck this weekend?

I saw 3, went after this one.

Made a mistake during the stock that I think cost me a pretty good chance, and am still kicking myself a little for it.

Put the stalk on one west of town that I spotted from about 2k yards on Saturday. I drove back down to the nearest point, worked into the meadow and commenced the stalk. After being sneaky for about 45 minutes, I found myself having a conversation at 40 yards with a 3 footer. We decided it would be best if we went our separate ways. Didn't bump into mom thankfully. Fun little stalk though and a cute little bear.

Took a drive up in the mountains saturday outside of Choteau but the only thing we saw was some Big horn sheep. Some good rams in the group but no bears. Will be headed to Louisiana the 17th till the 26th to hog hunt and fish so I probably wont be doing anymore bear hunting. Good luck to the rest of ya'll.

Keep after him Carl and you'll get him sorted out.

I've said for a long time that things begin to happen in and around May 13th, so it won't be long and we'll have some good stories and perhaps even some deceased bruin stories...<g>

Just the way I see it...
