Your honor, I hereby move we formally adopt Oregon45's position as to the 4x Zeiss scopes.

Do I hear a second? grin

I'll second that! LUCKED into a new one a couple weeks ago. VERY NICE piece of equipment.

The Zeiss ring mount area measures 5 3/4". My Weaver K4-1 is 6 1/4".
I can live with that.

I have a couple of the early 4x33s (still M8s, friction adjustments), and several 4x28s. All are great scopes. Largest issue is the rifle on which the scope will be mounted. On the #1 Rugers, I absolutely prefer the longer tubed 4x28s. The 4x33s are just not as flexible due to their length. Make them almost as long as the 4x28s, and I'd gladly give up almost every other scope in the cabinet for them...

If anyone is looking for a 4x28 long tube, I was in the Kittery Trading Post, Kittery ME early this week. They have five of them there priced between $125-$175.

better hurry, cuz I am going to stop there on the way home and buy two.

I miss that place. I haven't been there for over 12 years.

I had a great time there. Over 2000 used guns. My wife went shopping and left me there for two hrs. I was surprised at the terrible bullet selection. I was looking for some 7mm bullets. Not much to choose from. frown

SC: Did you stop at Cabela's in Scarborough? The bullet selection is far better.

Yes, we did stop there. There was some better bullet selection there, but the prices weren't any better than what I have to pay in Canada.

I did have a good time there checking out the SxS upland guns.

A good gunsmith (hard to find) knew all these action limits and the base/ring set-up that made em' work for the guy's desire(s) that owns the gun.

Like love...there is a base out there somewhere for ya'....
