Wow, Just saw some load data for a couple of the new Power Pro powders from Alliant. The velocities they cite for the .308 win are impressive to say the least. Pretty much 30-06 range with Federal Fusion bullets - 3060 fps with 150 gr Fusion, 2910 fps with 165 gr Fusion, and 2760 fps wih a 180 gr Fusion. Velocities are somewhat less, but still impressive with other bullets. This site (loaddata.com) only had a few cartridges and only had data for their magnum and light rifle powders. But this looks promising. Thought I'd pass it along.

Thanks for the heads up. We'll see how they work out once it hits the streets.
But I do think powder development is making the older "smaller" cartridges the place to be nowadays.

That's one powder that will be in demand. I need it for my 338 Federal. It lists a 225 grain Fusion at 2625 fps.

That data matches the load data at the Alliant web site. The numbers are really very impressive. Will be interesting to try and see how reality matches up. This stuff, and to a smaller degree, RL17, TAC and 8208 XBR are really making the short actions perform much closer to the "traditional" long action numbers (308 to 30-06; 338 Fed to 338-06, etc). Of course they may make the 30-06, etc step up to. My thinking is that the traditional performance of the 30-06 and 338-06 are well proven on game and if a round can be made to perform like them it's probably a winner.
