Just got a 223 LVSF and accuracy is good, but not consistant. I've tried 40 v-max, 50 nosler BT and 50 speer TNT with H335,W748, Benchmark and AA2460.
I have gotten groups in .3's and .4's with all three bullets (work up loads at 50 yards). Groups open up occasionaly if I allow the barrel to warm up.
The barrel is bridged, so I may try floating it. For those that have a LVSF, how does it shoot? Has anyone floated the barrel or bedded the action? Did it improve your accuracy?

Float the barrel and then try again. I have several Remington Heavies, and they all shoot best floated. EE.

Eagleye,
I took the gun apart. It was definately wearing on the left side of the bridge. The barrel is floated now and seems to shoot fine.
The 50 Noslers aren't shooting quite as well, but the 40 v-max are grouping under 1/2 inch at 100 yds with benchmark. best velocity also................thanks...

Two pards have them.
One is a 17,the other a 223 and both shoot very, very, well sans manipulation of the rifle(except trigger tweak).
I'd like a 223,punch it 223AI and dump it into a Classic handle......................

I have a 221 Fireball coming coming that should be here by the end of the week. Actually it is going to be my second boy's . We bought dies, brass, and some 50 gr. v max's just to see what its made of. Most likely it will make a trip to the smiths to get reamed out to a 223 AI assuming its worthy. As far as the classic stock goes I told him he'll have to use it as is for the summer and maybe towards the end, if he makes some decent money, he can order one.

update on the 223 LVSF. Floating the barrel helped with the accuracy issues. I'm getting great velocity and accuracy with Benchmark. Varget shows promise too.
Accuracy at 200 yards with 40 v-max.... 0.837" and 1.260" (5 shot groups)
All the talk about the 223AI has gotten my attention. A couple extra grains of powder in the 223 goes a long way.
