Looking for help with some smokeless loads. I tried 25gr IMR 4198 out of the old Cartridges of The World book, but it was SLOW, around 1200. Factory loaded ammo from 10X and a 305gr lead pill yields 1450. Thanks in advance! jorge

Jorge, I have 68 loads for the 45-60 if you're interested.
I could post them here or if you prefer could PM them to you.

My loads are from Loaddata and are for both cast and jacketed bullets and both smokeless and black powder.

Looks like this one: 292 cast Lyman 457191 IMR IMR-4198 29.0 1366, is about as close to the Tex-X factory I can get and it doesn't look like he has to use TP for wading. The 10X rounds don't have any in them either as you can hear the powder when one shakes the brass. My rifle is a Uberti which is identical to the Cimarron and when I bought it, the manufaturer recommends the 10X loads which are of course a lot hotter than the original loadings. Of interes, Buffalo Arms loads closer to original specs with trimmed 45/70 brass right at 1280 fps. Thank you very much for the info. jorge
