Red-dot Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 - Why is the front lens slanted?

A hunting relation of mine told me that the front lens of his red-dot Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 is slanted; in other words, the front lens is not perpendicular to the optical axis, the slant being equivalent to about .1" on the edge of the lens.

This surprised me, but it was confirmed in a conversation I had with a gun dealer; however he could not explain the reasons behind this disposition.

Do you know why the front lens of the red-dot Bushnell TRS-25 is set at a slight angle?

Are there other red-dot optics with a front lens slanted? Or with a rear lens slanted?

i'd guess it has to do with the dot being projected from the outside or circrumfrunce (sp?) of the tube and the front lens is angled to reflect the dot back to the shooter.

I am told that the same kind of slant occurs on the front lens of the Aimpoint 9000 and that of the Aimpoint Micro H1 and perhaps on other Aimpoint models as well.

However I do not know if the reason for this feature is the same for the Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 and the Aimpoints 9000 and Micro H1.

Is there an optics specialist who can throw more light on the subject ?

Thanks toad, indeed it may have to do with the transmission of the light from/for the luminous dot.

Other people have told me that it improves the parallax...
