I have a euro class Tasco, a 6.5 to 20X. The turrets are like those you'd find on a Leupold VariX II (they don't click). The tube is 30mm. Is this a quality scope, or does it only appear to be?

Be honest, I can take it!

Wizard

Wizard, I have a Tasco 3-12x56 Euroclass that rode on a 300winmag for years and while a bit heavy, it has never given me any kind of trouble. Its zero never shifted, (by hunting standards, I don't do benchrest) and it was never pampered. It is still clear and bright. I do not consider it a bad scope, in fact, it is the only Tasco scope that I have been happy with.
Good luck, Bill in NE

Thanks for the reply, Bill.

I mounted the 5 to 20 power Euroclass Tasco on my .243 the other day, and am quite impressed with it. I merely use holdover for longer shots with this rifle, so the friction turrets don't bother me. The turrets are marked, however, in "inches at 100 yards," and I do plan on checking repeatability.

For the 85 dollars I have invested in the scope, I think it was a bargain.

Wizard

Wizard,

We have an exclusive deal with tasco on the Euro-Class in the U.S. Currently the only we are importing is the 3-12x52. The model you have is from the original deal we had with them about ten years ago. The Euro-Class scopes are top-notch high end scopes made in Japan at the premier factory. The scope line was never very successful because people would not give the scope a chance. If you are up to selling it, I will let you double your money.

Chris,

I am realizing that this "ain't your cousin's Tasco!"

It's brightness and resolution compares very favorably with my shooting partner's Vari X II 6 to 18 Leupold! Another thing that impresses me is it's AO. The AO turns extremely smoothly, and it is machined to fit so well against the occular bell, you can barely see the seem. Turning it from 5 to 20 power is also very smooth and even.

The gunshop owner admitted today that he'd never seen a Euroclass Tasco before, and priced it according to a regular 6 to 24!

This scope has minor ring marks on it, so I'm not sure what its actual value might be. I have it mounted on a sporter barreled rifle (Rem 788) and I must admit that its size overwhelms the little Remington. This was my "walking around rifle," but the Euroclass is a heavy scope. I may consider trading it for something in the fixed twelve power range. I like older Redfields and Weavers.

Were you interested in this scope for your personal collection or for resale? Just curious...

One more thing. How many of the 520 Euroclasses are out there?

Wizard

I would like it for my personal collection. I have not seen a 5-20 in years. Not sure how many are out there total but I would guess less than 500.

Chris,

I will send the scope to you and you can evaluate it and decide what it is worth. I trust your judgement and integrity, as I've read many posts at this forum and others attesting to same. I'm sure we can work out something...

email me at dcnewberry naxs.net with the address to which I need to send the scope, and after you receive it, you can get back to me about it...

Wizard
