I shot a doe at about 125yds in the chest facing me, the bullet traveled to just in front of the back leg. She dropped like a stone, the bullet didn't look good.

If it went three quarters through lengthwise and she dropped like a stone, then does it matter how the bullet looked afterward?

My Roberts shoots like this all the time with these bullets. It's a very consistant load.

I have bought other bullets and tried them over the years, but alway went back to the Hornady.

Doesn't matter at all......lol
I didn't mean it in a bad way but probably came out like that. I was pleased with the results I got. I just meant the 1 and only deer I shot with it so far thats what the bullet looked like. I figured it looked like that due to being pushed so far thru the deer.
Anytime I shoot a new bullet I like to kill a few with it 1st before I decide if it's "the" bullet for me.
Didn't mean any negative to the bullet I think it will do great for me.

I settled on a load for mine and it shot pretty good, it usually shoots a lil under 1" groups. I took this pic the day I found the setup my gun liked.

I've been shooting the 257 Weatherby since 1990 and loading for it since 95. I've yet to have a deer or hog take a step when I shoot them with this rifle/bullet combo at ranges from 350 to 20 yards. That little pill is incredible. I've had a couple of failures to exit on less than maybe half a dozen animals, but they just seem to be electrified when I whack them. Speed kills baby! I've seen switched to the TTSX with similar results. Don't know why I swithced other than just because! jorge

I got my first Roberts in 1982 and I started shooting the 100gr Hornady about 1985. I have shot everything from mice (really!) and sparrows to big mule deer with it. It is extremly accurate and it always seems to expand AND penetrate. I have not had the same experience any other bullet - so why change?

I don't think any ammo company loads a 100 grain pill for a factory 257 load. You can probably order it from places like Nosler custom or some other semi custom ammo loading company.
Hornady would do well to load the 100 in a factory load, and Federal would probably do well with a 100 grain TSX load for the Bob, like they do for the 25-06.

Remington loads 100gr pointed SPs in 25/06 but still sticks to that archaic 117gr RN load in the 257Roberts.
