I had bought my daughter a Stainless T3 last christmas and this is her maiden voyage to the range. I did a tedious 20 shot barrel break-in (cleaning after every shot for 20 rounds). At 100 yards I sat down shot 20 rounds of cheap reloads I put together for the sole purpose of breaking the gun in.

37.5gr of 4064 with 100gr Hornady spire points and WLR primers, Shot 10 rounds and never adjusted the scope from my initial bore sighting (10 rounds grouped @ roughly 1.7") cleaning between every shot, I then adjusted the scope for the next 10 rounds to give me better poi to where I was aiming and with 1 flyer discounted, the next 9 rounds went into 1.3", at that point I knew this gun had very good potential. I was happy with the looks of those last 9 shots, I knew that round wasn't going to be my accuracy round, but it was very good. Next I went to what I hoped would be my winning accuracy round. 47 gr of IMR 4831 with WLR primers and 110 gr Nosler Accubonds, I had only 10 rounds of this load combination. After my 20 round of barrel break-in I proceeded to shoot out of a freshly cleaned barrel, temps were in the upper 70's with a little breeze at our backs with some swirling. The first three shots weren't oustanding, I had been cleaning the gun for the last 3 hours and I had just came off 3rd shift a few hours prior with no sleep so I says to myself, OK, time to concentrate. Next 3 shots .4", then I left my daughter shoot the rest of the accubonds. After the Accubonds were shot I loaded up 3 more rounds of RL 22 @ 50.5 gr with 117 gr Hornady spbt's with Fed 210 primers and shot 3 more shots which weren't what I hoped for and called it quits I was spent after 4 hours at the range with no sleep. I am going to load up a few more rounds of the 110 gr accubonds at the same charge and jump up 1 gr and see what that does to the groups, hopefully I can get to the range tomorrow.

If you have the ability please get some chronograph readings.
I've been hearing more reports of very low velocities out of T3's.
These reports echo my own experience.

My 22.5" barreled T3 in .25-06 gives book velocities rated for 24" barrels...3312fps using 53gr of IMR4350 and 100gr bullets (Horn IL, Barnes TTSX, Sierra MK- all give nearly equal velocities).

I have a friend with a chrony, after I settle on a load for accuracy I will chronograph it, I am working up some more 4831 loads tonight. Does anyone else have the same rifle with a petload they're willing to share?

Well @ 47gr of IMR 4831 the best group was .443", all groups were well under 1", the largest being .7". 48gr of 4831 produced the smallest group at .316". COAL was 3.21" with WLR primers and 110 accubonds.

While you can't argue with the accuracy those 47/48 grain loads would seem extremely light. According to quick load you'd probably be cranking about 2875 fps at about 46k pressure.
You should be easily able to get over 3100 with the 110 ab.
I have a 22" rem mtn rifle. It loves the 110 ab over 57.8 re22 and does 3200. It will put 5 bullets well under 2" at 200 yds with that load.

Is that with the Tikkas 22.5" barrel?

My rem has a 22" barrel...I would think performance would be similar. If you were talking 48 grains I4831 under a 110 ab I think that would be a pretty slow load.

The load appears to be very accurate and if the daughter is going to shoot it, recoil should be less that a full power load. Lack of recoil sometimes is a good thing and much more important than more speed for accurate shooting. The hunt for more speed can come at a later date at the expense of more recoil.

Exactly! For where we hunt shots are most likely going to be close.

Sorry missed out on the "daughter" idea. The front part of the accubond is plenty explosive. If you are taking close shots the speed you have dialed in will probably actually be an advantage over full power loads. Good luck and good hunting.....you've got it right.
