Well the Little League Mets had their first game today against the Pirates. The Mets won 6-4 in the top of the 5th. Yes, that's correct. The Pirates ran out of pitchers.
My best buddy Jack led off the game with a hard hit single up the middle. He stole second, then scored on another single hit up the middle.
The Mets had great fielding today. Several double plays between the first baseman, who happened to be my best buddy Jack, and his friend Vincent, on second. They've been playing on the same teams for a few years now and they play great together.
It was fun. Congrats little Mets! Tom-I need a schedule so I can come up for a game. Does he need any new gear? I'd like to get him something.

way to go Jack! congrats Mets! In case anyone is wondering, elk tenderloin stew made from scratch smells and tastes as good if not better than your imaginations had walleye for supper tonight, but started the stew for tomorrow. YUM!

Well me and the boy put in one hard long day of turkey hunting. We started out with decoys and calling blind with no results. Then went to another area and did the same thing. Nothin. So we drove to the SE where there are hardwoods and hills and immediately come across two HUGE Tom's. They were on posted land but headed right for public so we hurried and tried to cut them off but they didn't cooperate and continued into the thick stuff on private land. We drove another mile and there was two jakes. We snuck up on them and started calling and the darn things disappeared across the road. All in all, we seen over 20 turkeys today and had a chance at 4.
The best part about it was seeing the boy totally excited and shaking when we were trying to cut off those Tom's. I must have been excited too because afterwards he told me he had to "run his butt off" to keep up with me. haha

Tenderloin stew? So konfrusing for me... No kompryhend... it's more like 2 big tenderloins in the crockpot with a few veggies. it was thawed in the fridge a couple days ago and something had to be done with it before it went bad. I wanted to wrap in bacon and put on the grill, mama said no smells awesome though!

Another thing to try which I have found quite tasty is a venison meat loaf done in the crock pot.

I got my Tom about 45 minutes ago and I'm still trying to catch my breath. I had to run my fat azz off and jump over a 5 strand barb wire fence to intercept him as he headed down a draw toward a thick stand of willow. I'm home registering it on line at the present. Now we have to get the boy his.....if I live....

Congrats Jim. I remember a time I had to chase one through the woods after I shot it. Miracle I didn't have a coronary. Let me tell you that bird was extra dead when I finally caught up with it.

What did the boy think? Contests rooster!! He was pretty pumped up. We've been out in this miserable wind and rain for the past 5 hours trying to get him on a bird with no luck yet. My whole plan was to get him his bird first but circumstances didn't allow it. But he can hunt all the seasons until the end of May so plenty of time to get him one. If I knew how to post pics, I'd put one up.

Thanks. Yeah, I thought I was going to keel over walking back to the truck and back over that fence. Stupid desk job has not kept me in sprinting, jumping and climbing shape that is for sure!

The boy and I decided to come home about 4ish and take a break and then go out again. At about 4:45 he says "do you really want to go out hunting again Dad?" I said "not really" He says "oh good. I'm going to bed" lol

Rooster,congrats on the bird.
Ryan, the recipe for a crock pot meat loaf is the same as any other venison meat loaf. Bread crumbs, bell pepper, onion, mushrooms. The only difference is the manner of cooking it. It tastes about the same as if done in an oven but has a wee bit different texture. I like it done both ways. I found out this year how much better antelope tastes than venison when a friend brought me both antelope steaks and ground. As much as I like venison I never thought I would find something that tastes better. But I did.
