After years of looking I finally broke down and bought a High Standard H-D Military .22 auto pistol. I'm now spending some time learing the pistol and have a question about rear sight adjustment. How do you adjust the rear sight for windage and elevation? I understand there are two screws, one located on the rear of the slide above the hammer and the other located on the underside of the slide; but I'm not certain how they actually work and would appreciate some information before I attempt any adjustments. Many thanks for your help!

Get a screw driver that fits. The screw on top affects elevation; clockwise to lower, counter clockwise to raise. The one on the side affects windage; clockwise to move to right, counter clockwise to move to left.

Thanks, but I'm not sure which screws you are referring too. There is a screw at the back of the slide above the hammer that looks like it screws forward into the base of the sight. There is another screw on the underside of the slide that looks like it screws up into that screw. There is a third screw on the right side of the slide (with the muzzle facing away), but it's about 1/2-in forward of the sight and appears to put pressure against the firing pin.

George Orwell was a Prophet, not a novelist. Read 1984 and then look around you!

Wow, TLEE - thanks much! Every now and then I little cynical, but this internet stuff is pretty darn cool.
