I am looking at either of these for my 17hmr for shots on Squirrels to 150 yds. Both are probably overkill power wise for most, but I prefer to be able to zoom in on them . How does the glass compare between the 2? $135 for the Bushnell and right at $185 for the Nikon.

Also thinking Mueller APV but may try either Nikon or Bushnell. I have 2 mueller's and like them....but both are more scope than the APV, ie 6-24 and 8-32 .

Thanks

Allen

I've had the Mueller APV and its a fine scope for the money. My savage 17hmr now wears a nikon buckmaster 4.5-14X40. I had a few bushnells and can't warm up to them at all. Spend the extra on the Nikon if you can afford it and if not then get the mueller APV (much better than the bushnell)

The prostaff is hard to beat for the money........however, I put a Vortex crossfire (4-12X40) on my .17 and have been happy with it.

I have $50 Pentex GameSeeker 4-12x40s on a couple of different 17 HMRs and 17 HM2s that seem to work pretty well. The 17 rimfires aren't demanding in terms of recoil/eye-relief. At 150 yards, 12x looks like 12.5 yards or 37.5 feet and 18x looks like 8.33 yards or 25 feet.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have been looking at the Vortex also and it looks pretty good in reviews.

I'll look at the Pentax.... Looks like they have gone up some.....
