Hej There!
First of all i want to say "hello" from austria- europe!
This is a very interesting forum.
Im going to buy a new long range hunting rifle for wildboar, roebuck and deer.
My favorite gun is a Browning X-bolt composite in .270 wsm ; leupold vx3 3,5-10x50 german 4 il.
Maybe someone here in this forum is also using a x-bolt in .270 wsm and can tell me some made experiences about accuracy with pictures???

Thank you a lot!

Bye,
Cernunnos

Have one in 7WSM that is a fine shooter. Averages less than an inch @100 yds. shooting 160 Grain Accubonds. Velocity is about 3020 fps.

Enjoy your rifle.

Welcome Cernunnos -hello Austria. You have a fine rig for your purposes- right down to the reticle. No reason to think your X-bolt won't shoot like my A-bolt and make you very happy. I love the short bolt throw and light weight. I have a friend who used the 270 wsm to take a huge buck at close to 300 yds very cleanly. He is in love with the cartridge.

Welcome. Lots of folks on this forum don't like the A-bolt or X-bolt. I don't really care for the feel of an A-bolt myself, but that X-bolt is really a nice feeling rifle. I have a hankering for one myself. Please post some pics when you take some game and welcome again!

Hey together!
Thanks for your really nice posts.
Im pretty looking forward to own a X-Bolt- Rifle;)
The 7mm wsm would be also a very nice cartridge, unfortunatly the x-bolt isnt available in this caliber. Besides its nearly impossible to buy 7mm wsm in europe.
In fact i really dont need another gun, but what the hell...why not?!?

Apart from that- why do many americans dont like the a- and x-bolt?
In Europe Browning rifles are not widely used- much more there are "over and under" shotguns in use.
Perhaps the X-Bolt will chance this fact.

Another question: is it correct, that hunting by night isnt allowed in the usa?

Bye, Cernunnos

I think its interesting that someone is Austria is buying a Japanese made rifle in an American caliber and an American made scope. You have some of the finest guns and optics in the world made real close by, why are you going elsewhere? Just curious.

Hej!
Well, thats right- in europe austria and germany are many good gunfactories and optic producers like Mannlicher, Blaser, Sako, Tikka,...;Swarovski, Zeiss, Kahles...
I still own a Mannlicher Pro African in 9,3x62 with a Kahles CSX 3-12x56 and 2 Custom Mauser 98 rifles in 8x57is and 6,5x55.

But nevertheless i like the browning rifles- the price is really ok and the accuracy also should be really good.
The optics could also be a Swarovski Z4i 3-12x50- it depends on the offers. Apart from that the Meopta Meostar R1 scopes are also very good and economically priced.
Lets see which scope ill choose.

I was stationed in Germany and just lusted over some of the guns I would see in the shops. Different atmosphere though, sellers didn't even want you to touch the guns.

Yes, hunting at night is generally not allowed, especially for deer. There are states that allow hog hunting at night and predator hunting at night. Lots of folks coon hunt at night with dogs as well. Best of luck on the Browning and send me a private message and let me know how she shoots once you have had her to the range.

Cerunnos, I hope you enjoy the new rifle. I have a 270 WSM in a Winchester Model 70, and it's plenty of gun. Just curious what a Swarovski is running there. I am going to move to Germany courtesy of the US Air Force soon, and want to pick up a few european scopes while there.
