I am in the market for a mid size gun safe. Capacity to fit about 25-30 guns along with shelving to accommodate documents and valuables.

I walked onto Farm and Family today and saw they had a bunch of safes. One or two Winchesters and the rest Cannon. The Winchester clearly had a made in China print on it. I asked where the Cannons were made and the guy called to find out. The lady at Cannon said US, Mexico and China. I am hesitant to store $1000's worth of stuff in a Chinese safe, lol.

My question is, how are Cannon safes? I am looking to spend around $1000 or so. Any suggestions for a decent safe?

I've got a Canon and like it, no problems. If you're looking for a Canon, check out Sams Club. Sometimes they have ridiculous deals, [color:#000099]Like this one..!

Remember what you are putting in it and how much that stuff is worth. You get what you pay for in safes. The Winchester made in China safes sold at box stores can be tipped over, the bottom taken out (never mind the door) with a hammer and a heavy screw driver in about 10 minutes.

I put my money in a Fort Knox. Best fire protection, best warranty, best construction...period. I did a lot of research before I bought. YMMV

Thanks for the replies. The Sams club link...farm and family wants $999 for the same model. There is a local shop that carries Homeland Security safes...I may check to see if they have something to fit my budget. I believe they carry Fort Knox as well. I just want quality safe that is made in the usa.
