Thinking of picking up a Kimber Montana donor in a WSM to build on and was thinking of going 7WSM or 7-300WSM. I would simply ask for a SS Lilja and dupe exsisting contour.
Who'd you recommend for a re-tube?
Why is it called a double u, should'nt it be called a double v?

I can't answer your question, but just wanted to make a comment about the choice of the 7WSM or 7-300WSM. I would go with the 7WSM. There are casing available for reloading and one can purchase ammo. The 7WSM has the head space out further than the 300WSM or 270WSM. There fore to do a 7-300WSM one would have to neck casing down (or up if using 270WSM). Just my $.02 worth.

If you're married to the Lilja it says at their website they can/will recommend a gunsmith if requested.
Personally, I'd send it to PacNor for the barrel and installation.
What about guns? When do we get guns?

I am not married to Lilja, just want to stay with a barrel maker who will dupe contour in Stainless. Lilja lists the Kimber 8400 as a contour option in stainless.

I have no doubts PacNor can do the job. I've used them.
Per the PN site: Pac-Nor uses a CNC turning lathe for profiling its wide variety of barrels, with over 300 of the most popular contours in memory. Most factory contours can be closely duplicated. Contours are held to within .005".

I would try Brux or rockcreek for the tube, and for a smith give Clay Spencer a call!

PacNor or Krieger for re tube.
If a barrel maker doesn't have the conture on file many barrel makers will copy whatever barrel you send to them.

If you send the existing barrel most will dup it. I sent a barreled action in 20-06 to be rebarreled to Douglass they copyed the old barrel so close that the bedding was perfict. Thay removed the old barrel and instaled the new one for $475 back in 2004 Stainless XX I thought if they are good enough for NULA. Shoots MOA with almost anything but really shines with Shroccos

I'm about to send mine to Pac-Nor; they've done 2 other rifles for me and I was pleased. Good folks. For whatever reason(s) I do like keeping the barrel making & install under the same roof. Let me rephrase that. I find it conveniant that Pac-Nor will do the install, and can see advantages to having them do it.
In December they were 11 weeks out. Dunno about now. I need to get off my duff and get my rifle in the mail!
The CENTER will hold.
