I'm lucky to own a pair of SAs in the .257 Roberts as well as a 7x57....I "need" a .300 H&H which I have been fruitlessly searching for....I suspect very few were ever made....

A Cabelas store gave away a SA in .375 H&H last week....hope someone here got it....I was the runner-up on it....

There is an Oregon Kimber 300 H&H in my local gunshop. Dunno the details; I think it's on a Mauser action. I can check on it when I get back to the mainland (I just love saying that, grin).

Norman, here's a couple more pics of my Kimber Mod 89 BGR...

This one shows the barrel. It says Kimber of Oregon. INC., Colton, Oregon. U.S.A.

A look at the right side...

My rifle doesn't say Super America on it but it has the beaded cheek piece and intregal dovetail scope mounts that I thought were only on SA's. Thanks for your history of Kimber from back in the day.

John, thanks for the pics and description of the markings. Good looking rifle. Glad you have a Colton unit; guessed it wrong, I did. I can not recall specifically how long into the 89 BGR production that the change from Clackamas markings occurred but it was cool for the hometown guys and Mr Warne came around and showed us the first finished rifle with the Colton engraving. I think you are right about the integral scope base just on the Super America and not the Deluxe grade, which had no cheekpiece. I have seen a few pics showing 89 BGRs that do say SuperAmerica on the receiver.

Oh, I recall we made a nice rifle with fine upgraded wood for Major General Chuck Yeager, seems I got to mount the hardware at least but they wouldn't let me machine sand it! He had a few Kimber of Oregons...

Still waiting for those 89 BGR African pics. OT

This link goes to a book exert (Bolt Action Rifles Expanded 4th ed), or Google Books ad, and includes some Kimber of Oregon stuff. Seems to be a great book that may be of interest. Hoping that linking to this is ok. OT

Bob, the one I had, a 270 fwt, shot right at an inch. Kind of amazing considering that with 140 grainers seated out as far as I felt comfortable, the leap to the rifling was still .350". I had Greydog rebarrel it to 6.5-06.

Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

Yikes! Was the LOP extra long too? I hope not.

Here's another Google Books link with a little more info on Oregon made Kimbers, although one picture shows a laminated Mod 84 varmint model labeled as an 89 BGR. It does have pics of the 82 Army model I've mentioned and a claro Super Varminter 84 model which were pretty dang nice stocks to craft and which hardware and machine sanding really contributed to the end result...
