Back in 1972, fresh out of high school, I worked in the parts dept of the local Mopar dealership. I had my pick of anything on the lot to drive, but I ended up getting a '69 Vette Convertible with T-Tops, and the ZL-1 motor. I had a four speed and the exhaust pipes were routed where running boards go on a truck. That car got me in more trouble, cost me more money, and got me more easy women than I even want to remember. I went through 3 427's before it was all said and done. I remember paying for those Parnelli Jones? tires too. That was one expensive car to keep on the road, and I ran through an inheritance doing it. And gas was cheap back then too. It's a wonder any of us survived at all. I lost several friends from fast cars in those days.
