Wondering if anybody has a good load for this. I'm just starting out with the 25-06 and have some TTSX's. The Barnes manual only lists two loads. Let's hear some recipes. Also, how far off the lands are you seating the bullets? Thanks for the info.

My Sako likes a maximum charge of RL17. It averages about 3310 fps and shoots in the .4's (3 shot group).

First two I'd start with would be 7828 and R22

Mark: I have both powders you mentioned. It looked to me like the 7828 might be a better powder for the heavier bullets, eg, 115 or 120. It looks like RL22 might be the ticket. Anybody have a picture of a loaded round to see the seating depth? I know they say somewhere around the first ring or so. thanks again.

53gr IMR4350 gives 3312fps with a 100gr TTSX in my 22" rifle, and shoots 1/2-1MOA.

Dober +1 7828 works quite well. I believe I was getting 3375-3400 with around 55grns in my last 06(24" pipe). R22 is a good one as well, but the speed nod went to 7828. I'd give them both a try. Good Luck loder

I'm at a max load of RL-22, but in a short 22" barrel I'm only getting 3075 fps from my Sako A7.
However I can shoot paint chips that fall off targets with that load at 100 yds.

I'm using Jordan's load, but with 53.0 H4350. In the 24" barrel of my rifle it also gets right around 3300 and very fine accuracy.

Frankly I don't know why I'm not getting 3200 fps out of my 22" the books say I should get 3300 out of a 24, normally 2" doesn't drop all that much.

I'm running them over a mild 51.0 gr IMR-4350 in a MK V Ultra-Lightweight.
Have yet to chrono. But very accurate.

My favorite load with the 100 gr. TTSX is 58 gr. Retumbo in W-W Super X cases, Win. WLR primers, seated to 3.202". In my Rem. 700 ADL, this load consistently shoots into an inch or less if I do my part.

I have done some experimenting by cutting barrels back. The velocity loss per inch has ranged anywhere from about 15 to 60 fps.
It also doesn't follow what we might call logic, such as (1) magnums lose more velocity in shorter barrels, or (2) slower-burning powders lose more velocity.
About the only general trend that I've seen is that heavier bullets combined with slower powder usually result in the LEAST velocity loss.

RL22 56.0- 58.0 depending on your lot of RL22. My velocities run between 3300 and 3400+, depending upon indivual rifles and where the max accuracy and pressure cohabitate. Be safe, working within the idiosyncracies of your rifle, yada, yada. Enjoy the death ray.

Doctor_Encore,
What sort of velocity are you getting?

hmm..every time I load 100 grainers in 25-06 I reach for imr 4350, imr 4831, or imr 7828. All three shoot from .4-.7. I shoot imr 4831 because it gives me 3418 with just about any hunred grain bullet and it shoots around .5 and change.
