Onpoint, All 9422'S I have or have seen have XTR roll marked on barrel. Maybe a question should be addresed here. Huntz, the early 9422 XTR's were NOT checkered. About '78 or so XTR's were checkered. I believe production stopped on XTR's around late '80's, maybe '86. The later 9422's until production ceased were checkered. The XTR's were deep blued and high gloss wood finish. Cisco

The rifle shown above are post XTR rifles which Winchester called the "traditional" walnut carbines until they stopped production a few years ago.. All true "XTR" rifles were rollstamped that way on the barrels. FWIW, many folks like the more subdued Traditional finish over the Weatherbyesque high gloss on the XTRs. A nice pair of m9422s, IMHO.

It is my mistake, I dug out the boxes they are not XTR's. I thought if they were checkered they were XTR's. I was not trying to mislead any one. They are nice guns and should go to a nice home. Sorry but thanks for the correcting me I will be more care full in the future posts. As they say a picture is worth a 1000 words Craig

Huntz, Basically that is correct. However many variations were made in 9422's. They were specific collectibles so to speak. A turkey gun, maybe an Annie Oakley .A yellow Boy . A couple of Hi Grades.Some had color-case hardened receivers. I am sure more than that. I, to be sure, am NOT an authority. I know just enough to be dangerous. Cisco
