I have recently come into contact with a rifle that I need help getting some more information on. At first examination action appears to be a interarms mark x. All proof marks on the action are a "crown over BNP" Left side of barrels is stamped with the caliber (7mm rem mag.) the crown over bnp, another proof mark I can't make out and A.D. Heller Inc. BALDWIN, NY. Right side of barrel is marked with FIREARMS CO. ENGLAND Top of barrell is marked ALPINE SUPREME. The gun is supposedly very accurate with it's nickle and dime tasco scope, however, I have not confirmed this yet. there is no brand marking on the action however on the left forward part of the reciever is the marking MAG-288XX. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated in helping me furhter identify these companies and gun.

I am looking for information on this exact same gun, I see this is an old post hopefully there's someone here that knows something about these, my dad has had his since the 60's and it's a very accurate and well built gun, I just can't find much info on it, the company that made it, or its value. any help greatly appreciated.

"Sir, it does not sound like a Winchester, possibly the previous owner was confused by the caliber designation ".270 Win." I would guess that your rifle was manufactured by The Firearms Co. Ltd. of Bridgwater, England. They have been making the Alpine Mauser-action sporting rifle since about 1965. Rifles came with a plastic-finished wood stock in 243 Winchester, 270 Winchester, 30-06 or 308 Winchester. Rifles weighed about 7.5 pounds and had a five round magazine. Barrels were 24 inches and the sights were a hooded ramped blade and an adjustable Williams ramp. The K98k actions for Alpine rifles were originally refurbished war surplus, but later they were purchased from Belgium (FN) and Spain (Santa Barbara)."

Dsipp - It's built on a Santa Barbara (Spanish) commercial Mauser 98 action. Don't know if the barrel is Santa Barbara or if it was barreled as well as stocked and assembled in England. They were very decent 98 actions and more than a few were the basis for customs as well a complete rifles and DIY kits.

Built this 7x64 on a Santa Barbara. Shoots bugholes. Maybe that's why Dad has it now.
