I had a couple pairs of the Hogue black rubber grips arrive the other day from Midway. I spent an hour or so tonight trying to install them on a NM Super Blackhawk 5.5" barrel and a Single six. I tried em both on each revolver several times and could not ge them to fit properly on the gripframes. The model number for the grips are #83000, they say they fit NM Super Blackhawks with 4 5/8" and 5.5" barrel (round trigger guard) and Single Six's but it doesn't seem like they fit to me.
I've installed Hogue grips on many revolvers in the past with no issues.
Anybody run across this before....am I missing something?
Regards,
Josh

I have pushed and shoved that damn grip on there at least ten times now and no matter how hard I push, wiggle, pry wedge and cus, I cant get the backstrap completely covered. About an 1/8th of an inch is sticking out of the grip the whole length of the backstrap.
I called hogue who confirmed its the correct model of grips. They also advised me to heat the grips with a hair dryer or hot water and try again.
I will try their recommendations and report back...

It's just those dam Rugers. I'll bet that they will fit fine on a 700 Rem.
That's just a joke. I have several pairs of rubber Hogues, including a Ruger Blackhawk. They all fit like a glove. I seem to have read some issues with the SBH models. Mahap you could find some help on one of the Ruger Handgun Forums. Good luck.

Your guns are trying to tell you that rubber grips don't belong on single actions, and you should stick with either wood or micarta Its been over 10 years since I installed a hogue on a super blackhawk, and I didn't recall any special tricks being required or a poor fit. I did not care for the rubber grip with a heavy recoiling single action.

I know the Hogues don't look as pretty but they work better than wood for me.....when I can get them installed anyway.

Well...for whats its worth, the hairdryer worked. Those grips are a serious pain in the butt to get on, even when heated it took 6 or 7 tries before it went on right.
Thanks to all who answered.

Josh

Hey, glad that your mission is accomplished.
My Hogue Rubber Mono grips on my .41 Blackhawk look like a sow's ear but shoot like a silk purse for me. Life is good.
