I stumbled upon this scope on lunch today and I was asked to price it and I said $450 and was laughed at. I have seen VX-3 Long Range 30 mm and similar features go for $550 so am I really that far off? What would the 'fire have offered as a buy it now price?

For reference, a VX-3 4.5-14x40AO with mildot reticle and target turrets is $780 from the custom shop. I don't see a 50mm AO version.

I gave 550.00 for a like new VX3 4.5-14x40 LR (30mm/side focus) last summer. Don't think you were too far outta line, maybe worth 500.00 and I also don't know about the 50mm with AO?

I own a discontinued Vari-X III 4.5-14x50 30mm tube Side Focus Long Range Tactical Mil-Dot scope with 100 MOA adjustment range Target knobs (SKU #51668 ). The factory (Kendig Garth) identified it as the predecessor to the current Mark 4 4.5-14x50 ER/T M1 (SKU #54560). Differences are the oval USMC wire reticule has been replaced with an etched glass round dot style. Target knobs have been replaced with M1s. And of course lens coatings have improved. I've seen this Vari-X III go in the $700-800 neighborhood used.

If you have a one inch tube older style VX-111 then $450 would have been top dollar. I don't think I would pay that much for one. but you are not far off. I would think about $375 to $425 would be a fair price. But what you have does not compare to the 30mm tube VX-3. They are totally different scopes.

I have a 4.5X14X40 with the B&C reticle on it. The scope is probably about 5 or 6 years old. I bought it new for less right around $450. Now yours is the 50 with an AO, but mine has the more expensive B&C so the prices were right in line with each other. So $450 is what the scope cost you new if you got a good deal. So it better be in 100% condition to pull full retail?? Tom.

I sold two recently on campfire for $400 or less. Depends if it has the friction or click adjustments.
