For those who use 150gr pills in their 270 Winchester...just curious what recipes you use. Of course, standard "reduce and work up" will apply, just looking for some references.

I have H4831SC, RL-17, H380, Varget and W760 powders, and the rifle is a Savage 110 with 22" 10 twist barrel and the bullet is 150gr GameKing.

Boiler:
The load I've used for years in my Pre-64 is 57.0 grs. of Rldr-22 - I know, not on your list, and a 150 Partition. The powder charge is 1 gr. under max. listed in the books. Usually, I start with a Sierra or Hornady bullet for load workup then go to a Partition in the same weight. Seating depth is 0.010" off the lands as measured to the ogive. This is a consistant 1" load (sometimes under) and gives me 2930 fps on the chrono.
I've been a .270 fan since the '60's and it just plain works.
Good luck.

Hear Brian Pierce has some good 150 gr loads in the new Handloader Magazine, some using 7828....have not seen the article yet.

I used to use 58-58.5 H4831 for over 2900 from a 22" barrel,but have not loaded a 150 in the 270 since the 70's.

I've got a Pre-64 M-70 that seems to like 56 grains of RL-22 with the 150-grain Nosler Partition. I haven't chronographed the load.

+1 on this load!! if you experiment a little, you can get the 130's and 150's to shoot to the same POI.

Dont see it listed in Your powders on hand, but I run 57gns. RL-22 w/a 150 NP for 2945 fps. in a 24" brl. 1955 model M-70 Winchester.
Absolutely perfect WT deer load for me in the 270 Win.

Yeah, what Brian Pearce wrote is good but it's not a full blown article, it's an answer to someone's question.. He has written about the .270 previously though. I have always used 130's in my .270, they work good and I've had no problem with them.

I've used mostly H4831 SC from Hodgdon since it came out. The lot of RL22 that I tried was quite temperature sensitve, so I stayed away from using that. It's not unusual to shoot at temperatures from 30 below zero to 90 degrees above zero here, hence my concern over temperature sensitivity.
Don't stress about getting the last 10 feet per second out of the load. One load I used only gave me about 2800 fps and it still went from side to side with good expansion on a big cow elk at 425 yards.
