Okay, so I decided I wanted to upgrade my eventual brother-in-law's 1928-vintage and my Model 12s with tang sights--his first since he actively hunts with his.

At the 2010 MD Arms Collector show, I kicked myself for passing on one for $150. This year, I went to the same vendor (Ken Bean the Sight Man) about an hour into the show on Saturday. He said flat-out "If I had a dozen, I would still be sold out by the time you got here". Its a shame the Model 14 sights don't fit, he had three of them.

Then, I was watching a Lyman R12 sight on eBay, it went from a mere pittance to a final price of $204. Thats damn near what I paid for my entire rifle!

So I have to ask, where are all the tang sights for Rem 12s? There is obviously still a great demand out there, why doesn't Lyman or Marbles ramp up a run of them?

About the only thing harder to find is one for a Savage 1903, and I managed to pull off that stunt years ago.

Put up a post on RFC in the Remington section and you will find one.

Just watch eBay and seach on "Lyman Remington" and "Marbles/Marble's Remington".

IIRC, the Lyman tang peep sight for the Remington 12 and 121 is the Rl2 and the Marbles is the R7. There is an R7 currently at auction on eBay, 03/28/11.

Or contact John Guild, I think that is his name, on RFC. I have bought a few peeps for my 121's from him.

Thanks for the heads up, don't really wanna keep joining different forums, they are hard to get ahold of.

The problem with ebay is the prices are INSANE! I'm hoping someone with a dismounted, used-but-not abused tang sight might consider parting with it for a sane price.

The Lyman R12 that just sold on ebay went for $204 and was a notch or two under nice.

Would like to know where you find them--none in this area

Thanks, prefer Lyman since it doesn't need to screw into the woods like Marbles'
