I am looking for some suggested starting handloads for .300 H&H. The gun ia a remington 721 and I'm interested in using 200 gr bullets. I have manuals and am aware of internet sites but would like powder and bullet suggestions from people who reload this cartridge. All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Links, I shoot a 1946 model supergrade Winchester in 300 H&H, the most accurate and consistent load for it is: 200 gn. Swift A-Frame 70.5 gns. H-4831 S.C. Fed. 215 primer COL 3.585 Vel. 2900 fps.
With this load I have killed elk, WT deer, and hogs. Game has ranged in size from about 800 lbs. down to less than 100 lbs. Odd angled shots as well as straight broadside, I have yet to recover a single bullet. The 200 gn SAF is a penetrating bone crushing SOB in the original 300 magnum.
Good luck w/ Your rifle, and have fun w/ it.

I used to use the 200 gr. Speer and IMR-4831, but I can't find the exact load just now. In a Remington 721 .30-06 converted to .300 H&H I was getting about 2900 fps and 3/4" groups. I used Winchester Brass and the Federal 215 Match primer. When I finally got it out hunting, I would up shooting a basket racked 6 pt. that was chasing a doe at about 6 yds. it worked.

I have found extremely good accuracy using IMR 4350 and Fed 215 caps in Norma cases in my pre-64. JB helped me tweak(Thanks again John)the load. My pre-war barrel is a slow barrel and I ended up going well over book loads in this particular rifle to get to the magic 3000 fps out of a 26' tube with 180 partitions. This is again, another situation where the chonograph becomes your closest and best reloading friend and tool. JB's article on the 300HH in the Feb, 2011 issue of Handloader is definitely worth getting and reading.

My 721 likes H4831SC and 180-grain TSX's, both 4831's and 220-grain Partitions or Hornady RN's, IMR 4350 and 150-grain Sierras. 200-grain SPEER load was good but too hot with same amount of H4831SC as 180's [70 grains]. Hornady brass is nice, hate Remington brass and W W or NORMA are okay. Partial neck resize to keep brass life longer...

71gr of RL22 with CCI-250 primers and 180 TSXs gives me right at 3K and sub half MOA
