Just ordered a savage predator max 1 in 260. I want to shoot the 123gr A-Max and wondered if anyone has a favorite load. Any powder, and any primer recommendation works for me because I haven't started buying components yet. I am also interested in your COL because I think I will have room in the magizine and the throat to seat the bullet out quite a bit. Thanks, T.S.

If I didn't have any powder on hand I'd probably order some RL 17. But as I have many pounds of Ramshot Big Game and Hunter I use both in the 260 for that bullet weight.
I've stocked up on quite a few hundred 123 gr. A-max's and will start making a load for them for my son's 260 in the next week or two when he is back from college.
We have been using the 95 gr. V-max for woodchucks but the 123 gr. A-max at 3000+ fps seems to have possibilities.
I'll let you know where I end up at.

26" Criterion 8 twist .260 Rem barrel

123gr A-Max
RP 3x fired brass
48.0gr H4831SC
WLR primer

0.010" off lands, don't recall exact COAL but I think it was 2.82ish

3000fps, ES 20/SD 8, no pressure signs whatsoever @ 85F, 3 shot cloverleaf @ 100yd (shooting for data not groups, so no measurements).

Thanks, I actually tried that exact load except with Fed match primers and once fired brass. It shot well, but I found 44gr of H 4350 to be the ticket in my rifle. I don't know the speed, and need to buy a chrony. My friend recommended the same load you are using and it gives the same results in his rifle as it does yours. Thanks for the info, T.S.

I haven't got my notes with me but H4350 was the winner in my rifle.

Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!
