Well, new to me anyway... wink

I've always wanted one of these, and when I found one recently, I grabbed it. Showed up in the mail a few days ago. Can't wait to shoot it! grin

You will really like that Winchester, owned two over the years, should have kept at least one of them.

Wow ..... That's a radical departure from your usual tinkering. Very nice, esp with the receiver sight. grin

What's the brass/ammo situation for a 375Win?

You'll like that .375. That is a nice looking piece, there, and the receiver sight will exploit more of the accuracy you have.

If I can't run a low powered scope, I will use receiver sights. Semi-buckhorns are just too hard to use for me.

Here's my old plain-jane '94 in .30-30 with the same sight you have, and a Marble's front. It is hell on the whitetails around here.

Well, I've always thought one of these would be cool, so I took it. grin

It came with 60 brass, 170 hornady 220gr FP bullets, and I just picked up 100 brand new brass, so I'm good for a while. Going to pick up some medium weight cast bullets as well.

Don't worry, I have another of my regular tinkerers on the go too, and got my Custom Sako 260 back. wink

Yeah, I picked this one for short to medium range whitetails, so the receiver sight will be handy. I wanted the top eject, as I've never quite warmed to the angle eject.

My dad ran nothing but a receiver sight on his .308 for 30 years, and downed a pile of deer.

I do need to put a 1" pad on this rifle,as its a bit short for me, but can't decide on red, brown or black. Any input guys?

I'd try it with a heavier coat on before going to a pad and certainly a little short is better than a little long. LOP isn't as critical with a rec. sight.

I'd go solid pad in red - it's more traditional "Winchester" looking to me.

I never added a thicker pad on mine, due to the Winter coat/hunting season issue - I simply added a slip-on recoil pad for Summer practice, to make up the difference when shooting while wearing a T-shirt.

If you plan to shoot cast bullets be sure they are the right diameter or you will be very disappointed. I tried .376 cast bullets in my 375 and they hit the target sideways, nearly every shot keyholed.

blargon, super nice rifle there, I use to have the same set-up, shoulda kept that one to.
Ran the 220 hornady and rl-7 in mine, that load was pure hell on WT deer.
As stated above if you shoot cast, bullets in the .379/.380 range will most likely give good accuracy.

bluestar reloading has a ton of brass but hurry they are going out of business.I have have had 6 375 wins l;ove them.I still have two of them.I have shot bullets from 200 grs to 300 grs.I like aa1680 powder best of all.The most accurate bullet was the 235 gr speer pointed soft point but you can only load one at a time or have it as your first shot as I do.These are awesome little guns.I hope I get another one !!Get a bullet mold for it .375 bullets have gotten very expensive and hard to find sometimes.Good shooting and have lots of fun with it.I mounted a scope on two of mine.
