lookin at giving these a try in my ruger 77 mkII 300 win mag..since the ttsx's are a more solid bullet i would think they would perform pretty good on up to elk/caribou sized game...99% of the time on whitetail when i put down the 243...by looking at barnes load chart it would be somewheres in the neighborhood of 3300 fps..anybody using these for whitetail to elk sized game? what are your results? accuracy? and what rifle/barrel length are you shooting them w/? looking at loading them w/ 4350 since thats what was used in the barnes chart and im a newbie to reloading..thanks fellas

navyman , i think you will get a better response in the reloading forum. My personal experience with the 150's in my x-bolt are ok, but my rifle prefers 168's and 180's. Good luck.

i was thinking something similar to what your results were...im guessing the 168s would prolly be a lil more accurate..but im still tempted on tryin the 150s since they will shoot crazy flat and hit hard w/ my 300 wm

130 grain TSX/TTSXs and 150 grainers work fine on deer. Ins a 300 WM if you won't be shooting beyond 400 yards I'd go with the 130s. If you will be working beyond 400 I'd go with 165/168s. The better BC will will be useful once you get that far out.

Varget and the 130s is a great choice. Varget is still good with the 150s. Were I to go with the 168s I'd start trying out RL17/RL22.

I get stellar accuracy out of the 130s in my 300. 150s are just as good. I wouldn't hesitate a second to use 130s on elk or moose. I would not expect to stop one in an elk or moose either, at least not unless you try to shoot one end to end or corner to corner. Even at that I wouldn't bet on it staying in the beast.

I shoot them from Lazzeroni 7.82 Patriot Short Action mag at 3350 fps. They shoot very well for me at that speed. I've shot a Mule Deer buck as the biggest animal but he didn't move.

I'm planning on taking them with me this fall on a Moose, Caribou, Dall sheep hunt. I think they will do the trick.

My goal w/ starting to load and whatnot is to get good accuracy w/ both my rifles I have now(243 and 300wm) out to around 500 from the 300wm(prospected shots less but want to be minute of deer there just in case), and would be happy w/ 300 yards out of my encore 243 on whitetails. Thinking the ttsx 150s would reach my goal as well as 80 grain ttsx for the 243 for deer and smaller

I shoot the same. Hard to beat a ttsx for on game performance. Shoot the light for caliber bullets and drive them hard. Seem to work well for me. Of course, I've not had bullet failure with Accubonds, Bergers, partitions, TBBC, A-frames, etc. All will work just put the bullet in the right place.

Range estimation is easier with fast bullets though.

I have shot deer and elk with 150 TSX's out of a 300 SAUM. I have had very good results and would think the TTSX version would work as well or better.

I've read here on the fire about death rays, a 150 TTSX in a 300 WM fueled by RL-22 should easily qualify. <grin>

you guys are thinkin about the same i am about this one i can see...just lookin for that lil extra reassurance before i shell out the coin to get them...ive heard nothing but good on the ttsx's ability to shoot a lighter bullet at faster speeds w/ excellent results..just wanted to hear some opinions from people that have used them first hand

When you find them keep in mind that sometimes it takes a lot of shooting to sort out the right seating depth, and seating depth with Barnes bullets can be notoriously critical to accuracy. If you go 130s, the TTSXs have been easier to live with in my experience and they are a lot easier to find to get more of.

Try loading them deep. They seem to like lots of jump in most of my guns. Work out towards the lands in .025" increments or so. I usually start with the last ring barely showing and go from there.
